When the Lovebolt disappeared Tyler was left with a mass of unreleased material in the form of 1s and 0s across different storage devices. Most of the songs created for the project never had a proper release, at least nothing past 50 copies. The Way it Goes is a re-release of some songs and a first release for others but all under the new title of Tyler M. Consider this the first solo outing from Tyler, most folks probably don't remember those scattered shows in the late 90s with his acoustic guitar at various downtown Hamilton locations.

This album ranges from soft and quiet to angry and violent and the lyrical contrast is about the same. Sometimes sad and lonely, other times hopeful for the future. The Way it Goes has ups and downs.
